W6 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
W6 - Essay Example It takes a relatively long time to accomplish the objectives of quality assurance, and to ascertain that the manufactured goods are within the accepted standards. On the other hand, the main objectives of manufacturing are to reduce the cost of production and factory expenditures and increase the output within the minimum period of time (Thompson 2003). Quality assurance is therefore seen as a factor that can reduce the desired output due to the time it consumes. Manufacturers are faced with the challenge of establishing new methods of designing, producing, selling and distributing products. Automated data collection technology is used by many industries in order to ensure that products conform to the accepted International Standards of Quality while maintaining the manufacturing throughput (Perrow 1967). Failure to adhere to quality standards may lead to reduced marketability of manufactured goods. Throughput in this case is the amount of good quality products produced over a short period of time. Miles and Snow (1978) postulated that the manner in which industries decide to deal with the problem of market share management, manufacturing problem as well as the managerial problem, determines its strategies. My organization uses the strategies of defender organizations. It is usually faced with the problem of managing its market share. However the operating environment has turned out to be stable, which is one of the factors required by such organizations in order for them do perform well. It has measures for enhancement of cost leadership which helps in solving the entrepreneurship issues. It specializes in one area of production, manufacturing consumer goods only, whereby it focuses on the down market which is well established, and helps it to accomplish the objective of offering products at low prices. It accomplishes efficiency through maintaining vertical integration. The organization maintains centralized operations, official procedures

Independent critical evaluation of a planning model Essay
Independent critical evaluation of a planning model - Essay Example When we differentiate and assign the derivative to zero. Hence, and , so So profit is maximised when the output (q) is set to 10 Now, let us consider how we can investigate the model as a case study. The profit model is made up of two distinct sections i.e. Revenue and Costs. Revenue is based upon the linear demand equation and linear demand, consists of an intercept term and a slope term. Costs on the other hand, consist of two distinct entities i.e. a Fixed Cost (the cost of maintaining a business irrespective of level of output) and, a Variable Cost (the additional costs associated with changes in output). If we consider Revenue, then we are considering the product of the linear demand equation and output ('q'). We know that the linear demand equation consists of an intercept term and a slope term. Hence by creating changes in the coefficients associated with the linear demand equation, we can create changes in the Revenue equation. So, we can change the value of the Intercept term and/or the Slope term. Changes in either will create changes in the Revenue equation. Creating changes in the revenue equation will ultimately create changes in the Profit equation! Similarly, the cost equation consists of a fixed cost and a variable cost. Changes in either will cause changes in the Profit equation. Hence, the case study analysis is set up as follows: we will consider changes in the Fixed Cost, then changes in the Variable Cost, followed by changes in the intercept term and then in the slope term of the linear demand equation. Speaking about changes in the Fixed Cost look at graphs changes. Simply vertically moves the position of the graph of the equation. In the case of the Profit graph, a decrease in the... ), i.e. the minus sign outside the brackets of the TC effectively changed the sign of every term within the brackets when the brackets were removed! So 000 is our profit equation! Notice how it represents a quadratic equation with a negative sign in front of the 'squared' term. Such an indication tells us that we are looking at a MAXIMUM point. Let us plot a graph of our profit equation! Costs on the other hand, consist of two distinct entities i.e. a Fixed Cost (the cost of maintaining a business irrespective of level of output) and, a Variable Cost (the additional costs associated with changes in output). Hence by creating changes in the coefficients associated with the linear demand equation, we can create changes in the Revenue equation. So, we can change the value of the Intercept term and/or the Slope term. In the case of the Profit graph, a decrease in the value of the fixed costs moves the profit graph upwards (and vice versa). Hence, the constant values (-2,000 and 150 in this case) are technically

Media Reflections Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Media Reflections - Assignment Example What is known with Americans is about the world is more inconsistent to the influence they have and how it control resources. An erroneous rule of thumb for foreign correspondents covering the worldââ¬â¢s news is that ââ¬Å"all everyone cares is about earthquakes and rebellionsâ⬠. On the other hand, most Americans get their news from television and newsletters including magazines. However, television is the last effective media in communicating in-depth news with great knowledge due to its distortions and sparseness. If numbers can mean anything, journals and newspapers are not doing their job in getting Americans informed that they have a lot to learn from other newly developed countries. Most average sized newspapers are found to publish a maximum of one thousand words in a day for foreign news. This discards much of the total words furnished by the syndicates and news agencies. There are estimated less than four hundred full time correspondents for United States news orga nizations internationally serving the U.S. This is fewer than the number of correspondents who were at work at the end of the Second World War. The printing press was found to have numerous effects on peopleââ¬â¢s association and interactions. It was found to foster nationalism while at the same time promoted individualism. People could not engage in association in the mind of being a liability. The printing press also set up the literacy rates among the working people and on the middle class people. Knowledge was democratized among all members of the state. People could obtain knowledge on specific areas with much support from the printing press (Harrison, 1996). The printing press was as well found to have speeded up the dissemination and the preservation of knowledge among all members of the state. In relation to the internet in the modern day media, these functions of the printing press correspond to the specific effects portrayed through the study of the internet today. Inte raction among individuals is greatly enhanced by the internet while many of the internet users. The internet shapes the users knowledge through the interaction by different people. It democratizes knowledge with no limitation to all users (McLuhan, 2006).à Information is known to be in form of power. This is now known than ever in the third world countries and they are therefore calling for new international order of information. The newly developed countries have their demands going unheeded due to the lack of a substantial change in the world system of information dissemination. The American media in particular, are highly influential. The feature films, popular press, commercial TV and the hit parades were all invented in U.S. they were then imported and copied by the rest of the nations. Very little of the Anglo-American news film agencies and news select the images for the perception of international political information in the world. Information is no longer treated as a c ommodity but as a service at the disposal of every person. In the same way, if a new world order of information is established, the third world nations must consolidate their information media as well as the western highly developed technological states must assist. People make use of the media in criticizing the

See intrusctions - Research Paper Example It will develop learning objectives based on the training requirements; describe additional training modules that could be developed based on the training objectives; represent an evaluation of evaluation instruments used in the Fabrics, Inc. case. Fabrics, Inc. is a fast growing company which within the two years has increased the number of its employees from forty to two hundred. However, there occurred problems within the organizational environment connected with the retention of employees and the incorrect work of supervisors which do not treat staff well. Besides, there were obtained complaints from customers about the inappropriate behavior of supervisors. Such behavior could be partially explained by the absence of any formal training that was provided to those nine supervisors promoted from within. Despite knowing the work of employees and how to solve daily problems, supervisors do not help them and what is more important they get into arguments which are not helping in the working situations. The owner considers that despite the size of an organization, there is no need to yell at employees, hence, supervisors need to be trained in effective ways to deal with the staff. The assessment of needs is the primary step in designing and development of training program in the organization. However, to understand what training is required, a need assessment should be conducted. According to Dahiya and Jha (2011), the undertaking needs assessment will enable organization to determine the nature of performance issues and thus to identify the reason for training. Milner and Osinski (2002) consider that need assessment is utilized to help with the performance of work teams, solve problems and productivity issues within an organization and to prepare for the future changes in job execution and duties. According to Chang, Chiang and Kun yi (2012), there is a need to conduct a training need analysis prior the

Introduction to Emergency Planning and Operations; Types of Essay - 1
Introduction to Emergency Planning and Operations; Types of Emergencies and Disasters - Essay Example Precise officially permitted limits are set down for innumerable ââ¬Å"chemical contaminants and naturally-occurring toxicantsâ⬠in foodstuff (Table 1.0). Traditionally, these were countrywide restrictions put in place by the UK government. Though, these nationalized limits had been outmoded by the limits set by the EU Commission in the last few years. MAFF embarks a yearly program of assessment for meticulous chemical contaminants and naturally-occurring toxicants with an intention to determine the extent to which consumers are bare to presence of objectionable levels of contaminants or naturally-occurring toxicants in available foodstuffs. Observation program for entity contaminants or naturally-occurring toxicants is performed for a range of reasons: The MAFF ââ¬Å"Joint Food Safety and Standards Groupâ⬠(JFSSG) issues a ââ¬Å"Surveillance and Short Term Research and Development Requirements Documentâ⬠once a year inviting latent contractors to propose tenders for inspection surveys in evidently pre-specified vicinities. The independent laboratories execute investigation of food samples collected from assorted sources. The ââ¬Å"sampling procedureâ⬠espoused depends mainly on the precise aspirations of the analysis, even though a core objective that lies beneath this effort is to evaluate levels of harmful chemicals in the countrywide diet and to calculate approximately the consumption of toxics. This policy looms towards controlling the levels of chemical contaminants and naturally occurring toxicants identified to cause a health dilemma at the present time, even as endeavoring to categorize novel tribulations as they occur and develop techniques of control in the outlook. ââ¬Å"Mean rating scoresâ⬠for the potency of the existing supervision program for policy of ââ¬Å"chemical contaminants and naturally-occurring toxicantsâ⬠present in food materials are detailed below in Table 1.1. The most
Research a community organization on an individual basis Essay
Research a community organization on an individual basis - Essay Example Beneficiaries of the organizationââ¬â¢s programs are categorized into federations that exhibit religious, ethnic, economic, and racial diversity (http://www.picocalifornia.org/). In essence, PICO California strives to improve the social, economic, and political welfare of working families living in the State of California. The primary goal of the community organization is to enhance statewide relations and interactions among California residents. To do this, PICO California networks working families by identifying and creating awareness about common social issues that affect residents in the state. Upon identifying statewide issues that affect residents, the organization goes a step further to voice the concerns of the people. The idea is to ensure that the voices and concerns of working families and residents in general reach the stateââ¬â¢s leadership. In other words, PICO California acts as an intermediary between the people and policy makers in the state of California. In many communities around the United States, policy arenas remain inaccessible to the public. With PICO California, however, the underlying social responsibility is to enhance public participation in policymaking processes. In this respect, a number of factors influence PICO Californiaââ¬â¢s operations. These factors include health, employment, education, security, and local community empowerment. By evaluating and assessing these factors, the organization strives to promote family and social growth and development. It is evident that each of these factors is strategic in the formulation and implementation of state policy. Social initiative is the primary driver of PICO Californiaââ¬â¢s community operations. PICO federations network on congregational basis, resulting in strong culturally diverse social interactions and relations. The organizationââ¬â¢s social initiative encompasses increasing access to quality healthcare, minimizing violence in California, improving state
